Crazy weather

You don’t need me to spell it out, but the weather this year has been a bit mad, hasn’t it? Autumn is now officially over, and the Winter Solstice is just round the corner. So far we’ve had warmer-and-dryer-than-summer weather, freakishly early snow, more flooding, even more flooding, and now back to snow again. What on earth will winter bring us?

Early September brought a spell of fine and sunny weather to make up for the awful summer

Late September brought flooding and high river levels

After the summer floods, late September brought further flooding and high river levels

Late October briefly brought snow

Late November brought flooding and high river levels. Again

Early December and we're back to snow again

Well, we can’t complain about having boring weather, can we?

About Yasmine

After working with horses for many years I came to my senses and got a 'proper job'. I now live in Weardale with My Taller Half, a mad border collie and 5 chickens. Still wishing I could spend all my time in the great outdoors

    Hi Yasmine,
I’m enjoying your blog and especially your lovely photographs. I used to live in Wolsingham but for the past 25 years have been in Hamsterley. Like you, I am passionate about the countryside and wildlife of this area. For that reason I am particularly distressed by the caravan and chicken farm development that has been permitted at the top of Wear’s Bank – have you seen it? If not, do go and have a look, especially the devastating effect it has when travelling towards Wolsingham from Hamsterley.
Best wishes – and keep blogging!
    Caroline

Hi Caroline. Thank you for your comments. I’m glad you like the photos. Wolsingham (and Hamsterley) is a great place to live. I haven’t seen the chicken site since the first building went up. I know its a controversial development. If its spoiling that amazing view that’s a real shame 😦
